E-commerce · Payment gateway · Virtual terminal

Get paid when the card isn't in the room.

We set up online payments for businesses that sell on a website, take orders by phone, or bill by invoice: a payment gateway with website checkout, a virtual terminal, and payment links, with credit card processing priced in writing and one representative who answers.

  • Checkout on your website, and a virtual terminal for phone orders
  • Invoices and payment links your customer pays from their phone
  • Recurring billing, saved cards, and bank payments by ACH

What it handles

On your website, over the phone, or by invoice.

What you get depends on the gateway you choose. These are what owners ask for most, and on the walkthrough we show you which gateways do each.

Website checkout

Take cards on your website through a hosted payment page, or through your shopping cart where it connects.

Virtual terminal

Key in a phone or mail order from any web browser, with no terminal on the desk.

Invoices and payment links

Send an invoice or a payment link by email or text, and the customer pays from their phone.

Recurring and card on file

Bill memberships, retainers, and service plans on a schedule, and keep a card on file for repeat orders.

Built for how you sell

Online stores, phone orders, and invoices.

Online stores

Checkout on your website, with fraud screening tools to flag a suspicious order before you ship it.

Phone and mail orders

A virtual terminal for orders taken by phone, so card numbers stay off notepads and out of inboxes.

Invoices and service plans

Invoices, payment links, and recurring billing for contractors, consultants, and professional offices, with ACH for large invoices.

Before you switch

Some online stores shouldn't switch. We'll tell you if yours is one.

Selling on a store builder? Some store builders charge an extra fee on every sale when you use an outside processor, and some limit which processors you can use. On those, switching can cost more than it saves. Tell us which one you use, and we'll give you a straight answer, in writing, before you change anything.

Sending estimates and invoices from a CRM or invoicing tool? Tell us which one. If it connects to the gateways we carry, you keep it, and we'll tell you in writing what it supports, such as bank payments, before you change anything.

Want to pass card fees on? Online, that usually means a credit card surcharge: credit cards only, capped by the card networks, and restricted in some states. A lower price for paying by bank transfer is another option. Debit cards can't be surcharged, so your checkout has to tell them apart. We check your setup and your state first. Our state-by-state guide shows what each state says.

How fee programs work

In writing, before you sign

  • Your card and bank-payment pricing, line by line
  • Any monthly or per-transaction gateway fee
  • Any setup or software cost
  • Any term or cancellation fee

Ask about anything that isn't listed. Better now than on your first statement.

How it works

From the first call to your first online payment.

Step 1

A 15-minute walkthrough

Tell us where and how you sell. We show you the gateways that fit and answer what matters to you.

Step 2

Everything in writing

Gateway fees, card and bank-payment pricing, and any term or cancellation fee, before you sign.

Step 3

Set up with you

We connect your website, virtual terminal, or invoices with you, and run a test payment before your first real one.

Step 4

One rep who answers

You get a direct number. When something comes up, you call a person who already knows your account.

FAQ

What owners ask about online payments.

What's the difference between a gateway and a virtual terminal?
The gateway is the connection that sends an online or keyed-in card payment for approval. The virtual terminal is a screen in your web browser, run by the gateway, where you type in a card for a phone or mail order. Most businesses that sell online use both.
Can I keep my website or shopping cart?
Often, yes. Tell us which one you use and we'll confirm what connects before you sign. Some store builders charge an extra fee when you use an outside processor, and we'll tell you if yours does.
Do I need a website to take payments online?
No. A virtual terminal, invoices, and payment links all work without one.
Can customers pay from their bank account?
Yes, by ACH on the gateways that support it. On a large invoice it often costs less than a card. You'll see both prices in writing.
Can I save a customer's card for next time?
Yes. The gateways we carry can keep a card on file for repeat orders and recurring billing, with the customer's permission.
Is there a contract?
Terms differ by gateway. Before you sign, you'll see the term and any cancellation fee in writing, and we'll point them out on the call.
